Timothy B. Hurley, B.S. - President

Mr. Hurley has more than 15 years experience in leading start-up companies in both product development and associated intellectual property management, scale-up manufacturing and business development. He presently serves as Principal Investigator on two of DIApedia’s SBIR projects. Mr. Hurley has managed DIApedia’s research and development efforts since 2004. He is an inventor on U.S. Patent 7,206,718, “Method for Design and Manufacture of Insoles." Mr. Hurley holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University.

Peter R. Cavanagh, Ph.D., D.Sc. – Research Director

Dr. Cavanagh is a co-founder of DIApedia. He also holds the positions of Professor, Vice Chair of Research and Endowed Chair in Women's Sports Medicine in the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at the University of Washington. Dr. Cavanagh has extensive research experience in both the Life Sciences and the Engineering Sciences, specializing in the biomechanics of the foot. He is the author of the Running Shoe Book and the Biomechanics of Distance Running and has authored, coauthored, or edited over 400 papers, abstracts, chapters, and books.

Jan S. Ulbrecht, M.D. - Medical Director

Dr. Ulbrecht is a co-founder of DIApedia. He is also adjunct Professor of Biobehavioral Health and Medicine at Penn State University, a practicing endocrinologist and the Medical Director of the Diabetes Foot Clinic at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He has extensive research experience and has served as co-investigator on numerous funded projects, dealing not just with the foot in diabetes but also psychological, behavioral and clinical aspects of diabetes care.
